Raisin (SHADOW) – I am a
Labrador Retriever X, female, about 1 yr old, just about 50 lbs. Here's a bio by my foster parent: Shadow has beautiful white coloring on her chest and rotty paws and tail, other than that she's all lab! She is of a small frame, so a very nice size indeed. Shadow is very affectionate, energetic and playful. She is completely housetrained and crated. She knows basic commands and has improved every day that I have been fostering her. She is also living with another dog in my home and they get along fine. She has a minor issue with imposing male figures and those who have a fear of dogs, she sense the fear and barks. She continues to improve as she becomes more socialized. She soon warms up to an authority figure and is extremely loyal. The girl is super fit and needs an owner who can take her on long walks and hikes. Please contact foster parent Darrel 416 885-7787 or email nantana50@hotmail.com. Rescued Dec 2011. Kody (pl use both pics) - I am a Bull Mastiff-French mastiff X, male, about 3 yrs old, 100 lbs. Heres a bio by my foster parent: Kody is a big beautiful boy full of energy, despite his size. He loves to play with his toys, but most of all he loves to play with people. He thinks he still is a puppy and does not understand that he is a strong and powerful dog. Kody has to be constantly reminded to play gently, not to jump on human or other dogs. He loves his daily walks for over an hour. He loves to go to the woods for hikes too. Kody needs an experienced dog owner who understands the needs of this giant breed, and be able to be a leader to Kody. He also needs an active owner who has the time to provide him the exercise/activity he needs. Due to his size , a spacious house with a big fenced yard would be most suitable. CELIN - I am a female miniature poodle, 11- 12 years old. I am very well mannered, is always happy to meet new people and allow everyone to pet without hesitation. I am great with children of all ages, and also do well with cats if they are not aggressive. I am very quiet. If there is nothing to do, I mostly will curl up in my bed and rest. Because of that, I am rarely bothersome. Other than having cataracts and a mild heart murmur which is very common in senior dogs, I am very healthy. I was rescued in 2009 from a Quebec pound, and living in my current home for over 2 and a half years now. Because my dad is relocated to another province, my mom felt it would be good for me to have the necessary love and care I need from a family with a stay-home parent as she is always busy at work. Please be assured you will always have my mom on your back. If you ever need someone to take care of me for a few days, my mom would be glad to help out. Please call Susanna at 905-363-1951 or email susanna71huang@yahoo.com. ADOPTION FEE: $108. P111230 |

Kewpie (MAISIE) - I'm a boxer/hound mix, female, about 4 yrs old, weighing about 50 lbs. I'm a super lovable dog and I like to kiss everyone I meet, right on the mouth. I'm a very smart girl, at least that's what my foster mom tells me every day. I learn new commands quickly and I really want to make my owner happy.. I need a confident yet calm owner who won't yell at me, rather someone who will calmly yet assertively guide me in the right direction. I will do anything for my leader, just takes me a week or so to trust you. While I love to run and play outside, I am pretty relaxed in the house. I do have a lot of energy so a few good walks a day are important for me to continue my good behaviour. I am crate trained but more than 3 hours and I'm no longer a happy dog. I would like a home where I am not left alone for long hours. Right now my foster mom brings me to work with her and I love going to the office and socializing with everyone. I just chill out on my bed most of the time while she's working. I get along fine with most dogs, but not a fan of little dogs, but my foster mom has been working on socializing me with them and I'm learning slowly but surely. I'm getting better at no jumping up on people, but sometimes my excitement gets the better of me. For this reason, I would be best suited for a home without small children. Please contact foster parent Laura 647 893 4976 or email lqusen@yahoo.ca. ADOPTION FEE: $258. P111121 |

JACK - I am a very handsome Shepherd X, 4-5 years old. Here's a bio by my foster parent: Jack is every inch a dog. He is big, friendly, smart and strong. He has a beautiful face and a mischievous mind. He loves to play, race around the yard, and generally likes company. He is usually quiet, except the barking at the mailman, or sometimes at the cats when they're teasing him, and can whine when he is feeling musical. He loves a big backyard, and can stay outside on his own for hours on end. He is strong-headed and needs a firm and experienced person to train him and to keep him in his place, as he can tug hard on the leash, jump on you when he is happy...... Given a strong hand, he is quick to learn, and is a very intelligent, loving, and grateful dog. He is extremely food-motivated, a trait which may stem from his youth spent on the streets of Hamilton, and likes to sniff anything and everything. He is perfect for a strong and experienced owner who can provide him the exercise/training he requires. He is rewarding to have. Please call foster parent Greg (905) 821-2465. Rescued Oct 2011. BAM BAM (Private Adoption) - B amBam is a healthy, handsome, affectionate German Shepherd/basenji mix. He is 2 yrs old, medium height, neutered, microchipped, up to date on all shots, and weights about 60 lbs. He has been professionally trained over the past 7 months. He is crate-trained, house-trained, heels, sits, and waits for his owner to walk through doorways before him. He will "place" - stay on a 3' x 5' platform off leash in the home, where he contentedly chews on raw carrots (which he likes) or his nylabone. BamBam is energetic, fast, and smart. . He is affectionate with people, and he really likes other dogs. He would love to live with another dog. He is learning to come when called on a flexi-lead. He needs continued crate training and use of his commands. In order to ensure a smooth transition, I will pay for three sessions with BamBam's trainer. He has a prey drive, so he may not be good with cats. During the day, we leave for 6-8 hours and Skipper is left to move around the house and we’ve never had a problem. Skipper likes being around people and is a very playful dog. He LOVES playing balls and would initiate play by dropping a ball at your feet. He loves to run in the park chasing a ball as well as going for walks. Skipper would be a great addition to an active family. Its best he goes to a home without small kids (as he does not like to be picked up), older kids are fine. . Rascal & Samantha - We are male/female Collie/Sheltie mixes, about 10 years. Here's a bio by our foster parent: "Sammy and Rascal’s senior owner had to move into a senior's home and they ended up homeless. They were raised on a farm and used to live outdoors, but have adjusted nicely to indoor life and are house trained now. Sammy and Rascal are gentle with children/adults, cats and dogs. They are smart and they know sit, stay and heel. Right now they are living with a cat and two youths in their foster home and get along fine with them. They are well-mannered, walk well on leash and will wait to have their paws wiped at the front door. They enjoy being brushed. They enjoy going to the leash free and do stick closely together. Sammy and Rascal have been together since birth and are BONDED siblings. Therefore, they MUST be adopted together. When separated they do show signs of anxiety and depression. They sleep together on the same bed, even though they have the run of the house and have separate doggy beds. Rascal and Sammy require a home with a fenced in yard. A quiet home with routine, where they are not left for long periods of time or separated from each other is best suited for Sammy and Rascal." Harley (Holiday) - I am a male Shar Pei/Labrador X, 11-12 years, about 70 lbs. Here's a bio by my foster parent: "Harley is very social and loves all people, cats and other dogs. He is presently living with a cat, who adores him, and a small dog in his foster home. He is content with their company and gets along great with them. Harley is very low maintenance and would love to find a quiet home with routine and does not require too much activity. Harley needs a home without too many ups and downs on the stairs. A bungalow would be ideal for Harley, due to his mobility restrictions. Harley has arthritis and walks with a limp due to a previous fracture left unattended. He will require to be on medicine/coated aspirin or some natural (Glucosamine) remedy to help with the arthritis discomfort. Harley requires a stable home environment with an elderly couple or mature person/people that enjoy the company and understand the needs of a senior dog. Harley enjoys, and only requires a few, short walks daily. Harley knows his basic commands - sit, shake paw, lie down, stay - and is great in the car and can't wait to go for car rides. Harley will wait at the front door to get his paws wiped after his walk. He loves his meals twice a day, but is not food aggressive. He is housetrained and very clean. Harley was rescued from a shelter. However, he must have been well cared for in his previous home, as he is well mannered, easy going, wants to be close to his people and loves to snuggle with you on the couch (if you let him), otherwise he is quite happy to lounge on his comfy dog bed. A house with a yard and a home where he will not be left alone for long periods of time (ideally a stay at home person) would best suit Harley. Harley will melt your heart with his big, brown, button eyes. He is trusting, a gentleman and an absolute pleasure to have around. You can't help but love him to bits!!!". Pplease e-mail foster parent Katie @ katiebiffis@hotmail.com and include details about your home environment and your experience with senior dogs. ADOPTION FEE: $108. P110516 |

Lily (private adoption)- I am a female Golden Retriever/Labrador X, 3 years. Here's a bio by my owner: "Lily is a happy and playful puppy who loves the outdoors and people. She has a lot of energy and loves to run, play catch and swim. She knows a lots of tricks as she has had Puppy level 1, 2 and 3 level training. She runs really fast and has great agility potential. She gets along with most dogs. Although Lily is a loving, fun and friendly girl she is also a dominant dog. She needs an experienced person with dog training knowledge, as she can be challenging at times due to some territorial/resource guarding issues (protective of possessions like toys or food). She is looking for an owner that she can look up to as her leader. Her new family should invest time to exercise her daily like running in a leash fee park so she can be a relaxed dog. She should go to a family with no small kids, older ones are fine." Please email Diana difeeley@hotmail.com or call 519-216-2597 or 519-940-3448. DO NOT CALL MHS. P101024 |

Wilbur - I am a hound X, male, 8- 9 years, weighing about 55 lbs. Here's a bio by my foster mom: "Wilbur is a great dog! He is house-trained, crate trained, excellent with all other dogs, great with cats and very friendly! He's a very easy-going "do anything to me" kind of guy. Wilbur is well behaved in the house (but can be a bit of a food thief) and is happy to curl up on a dog bed. Outside he loves to sniff and explore, and likes going on walks. Being a hound, a fenced yard is a must! Patience - I am a German Shepherd X, female, 10-12 years . Aint I cute with this endearing "one ear up, one ear down" look? There is nothing wrong with it; I was just born with a floppy ear which I wave to greet people! My foster family thinks it’s cute. I lived in a shelter for more than a year and was almost on death row until MHS came to my rescue. Despite this ordeal, I have a great spirit. You would never know my age by looking at me as many think I am only 3 years old. I am affectionate to all humans, whether kid or adult. I simply love getting in between my young friends to have them pet and play with me. I have learned to sit, stay and give paw, walk at heel and take treats gently from those who like to spoil me. I was brought up alone so I don’t do well with other animals, and should be the only animal in my permanent home. For my age I am in good shape except for a little arthritis. Please give me a good home and I promise to be a perfect pet. Rescued April 2010. Please contact foster parent Richard: 416.894.0917. ADOPTION FEE: $158. R100400 P100508 |
