ADOPTING A CAT: Adopting a pet means a life commitment for a precious life. Are you able to provide a stable home for the rest of his/her life? Please THINK before you CALL.

All MHS cats have been spayed or neutered (age and health permitting), vaccinated, and given a microchip. Adoption fees are shown in most cat profiles. They are:

           Kitten - (under 6 months) ... $88 (covers 1st booster, deworm & microchipping)
                      plus $100 deposit which will be reimbursed upon
                      proof of the neuter/spay surgery when the kitten is
                      five months old.

           Kitten - (6 months to under 1 year) ... $128

           Adult - (1 year to 7 years)...$84

           Senior - over 7 years ... $50

If you wish to know more about a pet please contact their foster parent directly as per the information in the pet's profile. If you are unable to reach the foster parent after several tries then please call our main line at 905-271-0883 and leave a message.

Sometimes people ask which pets are hardest to find adoptive homes for. They are the older ones, and in the case of cats particularly the black cats who are victims of so many myths. The pets at the bottom of this page are those who have been with us the longest.
Please also consider a privately adoptable animal. These are not MHS animals, but include courtesy listings for:

  • Owners that can no longer keep their pet and need help finding them new homes;
  • Rescued strays whose owners never claimed them and the rescuer can't keep;
  • Other rescue groups that need a little extra exposure for a pet.

You can view our courtesy listings here.
