FOSTER HOMES URGENTLY NEEDED FOR THIS DOG

ALL ADOPTORS OF OUR DOGS ARE ENTITLED TO 6-8 FREE DOG TRAINING SESSIONS PROVIDED by Dorothy Avery of MOTHER KNOWS BEST DOG OBEDIENCE SCHOOL

Tugboat - I am an Australian Cattle Dog X, male, about 1 yr old, 40 lbs (I am a chubby boy of a small frame!). Here's a bio by my foster mom: "TUGBOAT is a really friendly, smart and active guy. He is young and behaves very much like a puppy. Tugboat needs to have lots of toys to chew to prevent him from chewing on things he shouldn't. He LOVES treats! He is fully house trained. He is good with kids but his energy level, strength and need of training make him more suitable for older children. Tugboat LOVES to go for walks but needs to be trained on his manners. He barks when someone is at the door but is always friendly when introduced to guests. Tugboat should not go to a home with cats. We are not sure how he would react to another dog in the home. Tugboat has lots of energy and loves to run around so a home with a yard is a must. Tugboat is great on car rides. He also loves attention and company and needs someone that will enjoy spending a lot of time with him taking him for long walks, playing with him and giving him belly rubs. Tugboat is a VERY sweet dog who loves to snuggle. An experienced owner willing to give Tugboat the training he needs will be rewarded with an amazing companion. He is a pleasure to have around." Rescued March 2008. Contact Lisa at 416-444-3082 or yugiblue@rogers.com. ADOPTION FEE : $250
Tommy - I am a beagle, male, about 1 yr old, 25 lbs. I am a sweet and affectionate boy. I am friendly with people and get along with other dogs. I also walk well on a leash. Being a very young beagle, I still have the typical puppyish behaviour like chewing and nipping, so I need a 'stay at home' and patient owner who can give me attention and training. I should go to a home with no small kids, older children are fine. Rescued March 2008. Contact Tom 905-848-0012. ADOPTION FEE: $250
Max - I am a very handsome 4 year old Labrador /Dalmation X, male. . I am a friendly, happy, energetic and playful dog. Sometimes I am a bit shy with new people, but I warm up pretty quickly. I get along really well with other dogs, cats and with kids too. I'm pretty independent; my foster mom says I am 'low maintenance', but I do need lots of exercise. Sometimes I bark when I hear the door, but I will stop when I'm told, . I like to have toys around that are just for me - that would stop my chewing other things! I am looking for a forever home with folks who are active and like to be outside a lot, and take me with them. I am an excellent passenger in the car, and my favourite game in the whole world is 'tug-o-war'! Contact Alicia @ 905-919-1593 or aarcand@rogers.com.
Lexi - I am a very cute Pom-Yorkie mix, female, 9 years old. Here's a bio by my owner who has to find me another home due to a family situation:: "Lexi's past has not been great; she could have been abused by her first owner that for the first 3 years. When she's with people that she knows then she is fine and quiet but can get very excited. She is not very socialized with strangers especially males and other dogs. She is quite vocal to strangers and unfamiliar noises. She will bark when visitors come to the house. . She is house trained but from time to time she had several accidents; she sometimes would let you know when she needs to go outside. . She can be left alone and is not destructive to things nor does she have any anxiety problems when left alone. She has some weird fears such as if her toys is near or against a wall she is afraid to go near it. Also sometimes she is afraid to go near her food/water bowl but she wants to eat. At times you would have to be near her when she eats. She loves attention and sometime will bark unless you pet her or hold her. Lexi is very loyal to people she is close to and will never harm them. She loves to go for a walk but not in the cold or heavy rain. She definitely needs someone that is very kind and patient with her and can give her a lot of attention and love, in return you will have all her loyalty. A quiet and adult home with no kids is preferred". Surrendered March 2008. ADOPTION FEE: $128. Please contact Cindy 905-796-5699.
Taz - (PRIVATE ADOPTION) is a friendly and playful 3 years old male Rottweiler mix. He is an athletic type and would love to be in active house, with a family that enjoy spending a lot of time playing and walking him. Due to his energy level, size and strength, he is best suited to an adult-only home or to a home with older teenagers.
He prefers to be the only pet in a household, as he likes a lot of attention! Taz graduated from a basic obedience class and knows such the commands as sit, give a paw, down etc. With additional obedience training, he is on his way to being a great dog. Taz has his record of up-to-date vaccinations and also, he's been recently neutered.
A big dog with a big heart for a loving and experienced owner who can keep him active and exercised!.905-279-0080, vrbknv@yahoo.ca or sharronw99@yahoo.com; DO NOT CONTACT MHS**
Zeus - (PRIVATE ADOPTION) He is a Rottweiller Doberman, approximately 5 and a half years old, neutered male, about 90 lbs . He can be a good guard dog as he barks when someone is at the door. He is very friendly, he is loyal and likes attention and walks. When on a lead he is protective of his owner, but others who have walked him say he is very well behaved. He has never tried to bite anyone. He is good with kids. He is socialized with other dogs and people and when off leash running around I have had no problems. He is not always good with other aggressive dogs when on his lead. He has been too friendly and jumped up on a person twice. He is housebroken. He is ok with cats, will share a bed with them, but likes to play with them. No health problems ever. Caesar and I are living together in the same home. Martha - I am a Beagle X, female, about 30 lbs. Although I am estimated to be around 8 yrs, I have the energy of a young dog! I am in good shape and very active. I love the outdoors , and enjoy playing and rolling l in the snow. I am well behaved in the house and housetrained. I can sit and shake hand if I am in the mood - I can be a diva, but that makes me more adorable! I am living with a cat in my foster home. I may get along with other dogs if they let me be the boss! I should go to an adult home with no children, and preferably the only dog. I will also make a great companion dog for an older person/couple. Rescued March 9, 2008. Contact Jane 905-272-0436. .
Norman - I am a Foxhound, male, about 2 years old. I have a wonderful personality. I am incredibly sweet, good-hearted, affectionate, cuddly, socialized.... I can provide lots of entertainment as I can be quite goofy! I am very smart though and have had some obedience training already. My foster mom thinks I am highly trainable. I am also crate trained and housetrained. I am pretty well-behaved when inside the house, although I sometimes need reminders on manners! As a young hound I need my daily exercise - a good walk/run at least twice a day is a must to keep me happy. My favorite pastime is running around with all my buddies at the off-leash dog park. I will make a great family dog as I love children - they can wrestle all over me! I also get along great with other dogs, but would go after cats! An active family with a fenced yard would best suit me. Rescued May 11, 2007. ADOPTION FEE: $198. Please contact foster mom Kathy 905-894-7258 or email: katyra_tollers@yahoo.ca

George & Susy - ***(COURTESY LISTING) URGENT SENIOR COUPLE DESPERATE FOR LOVING HOME - MUST STAY TOGETHER*****
These companions need to stay together - they have been together since they were very young. They are seniors, but in excellent health. They need mild exercise and loving, attentive companionship. Both are excellent around children, cats and other dogs. Both are up to date on all shots, heartworm etc. These two darlings have a lot to give someone, so please do not let their age deter you. Dogs are the most loving and loyal creatures and and give back all the love and devotion that we give them, and then some*
George was born in July 1999, this beautiful, neutered, chocolate Lab had surgery on his back legs (cruciate repairs) years ago, so goes at a slower pace and has some arthritis. This does not bother him though as he would much prefer to sit with people and be stroked and talked to..
Susie is a sweetheart of a black Lab born in June 1999, she is spayed, mildly deaf but is super gentle and very easy going.
These dogs are absolutely WONDERFUL and have so much love and laughter to share with a forever family. Contact Joan Lab Rescue 416-567-6249 or email paws4labs@yahoo.ca.

Duke -(aka Marmaduke) I am a Blood Hound X, male, about 2 yrs old, 80lbs. Heres a bio by my foster mom: "Duke is a lovely and very friendly boy . He is very smart and is a quick learner. He has only been in training for a week or so, and has learned so much. He has learned SIT , SETTLE, WAIT, and HEEL very well. He loves to go for walks, and although he is a strong boy, he heels perfectly with a Gentle Leader on. Duke would do well in a house with adults or older teenagers, due to his size and strength, and preferably a home without cats and small animals. He does best in a day when he gets out for two or three 20-40 minute walks. He enjoys sitting in the family room with his people, watching TV. He loves to lay on the floor and cuddle with you, and have his tummy rubbed! Duke is looking for a home who can give him lots of attention and exercise. A strong and experienced owner is preferred." Rescued Feb 2008. ADOPTION FEE: $198 Contact Barb 647-224-3577 or email barb_ross@rogers.com

Bea - (COURTESY LISTING): Bea is super happy big hearted lab with loads of love to give. If you could, go ahead and pet her all day, well that would be fine by her! She ignores her feline housemates and tolerates her boisterous puppy housemate. She'd probably prefer to have a calmer room mate (I don't think she'd mind having all the attention to herself for that matter). She's been good with company. She is also good off leash and at the dog park. She likes to go for walks, but not too long. She is a mature lady, but does not let it hold her back. Email northernpassage17@yahoo.ca Posted February 6, 2008.
Loui - (aka Cojack) - I am a Terrier X, male, about 11 yrs old, about 40 lbs. Here's a bio by my foster mom: Louie has come a long way from a frightened, traumatized, grumpy and growling stray, to a loving and tail-wagging dog that wants to kiss and cuddle with me, sometimes begging for a gentle rub on his head!. At night, he lies at our feet watching TV. With consistency, kindness, firmness and commitment, Louie will make some kind person a great companion. He has proved to be nothing more than a joy in our home. He needs a quiet home where there are no small children - preferably of a stay-home owner. A home with a yard would be great as he is still energetic for his age. He is learning fast and seems to be very intelligent and loyal. He is now house trained and is learning to trust. He enjoys car rides and long walks. He behaves very well on walks, and also reacts well to the dogs he meets. He does at times seem to guard his food but willingly takes treats and snacks from our hands. Louie needs a guardian angel who will be dedicated and committed to him for the rest of his life. In return he will reward you with lots of love and loyalty." Rescued Dec 2007. ADOPTION FEE: $98. Please contact foster parent Linda 1-905-713-6629 or email lindagopfert@msn.com. Posted February 6, 2008.
Brindle  - I am a gorgeous Husky/Akita X, female, 7-8 yrs old.  Here's a bio by my caretaker: "Brindle  is a sweet girl who loves attention from any and all people.  She has spent her whole life chained to a tree, yet still maintains a good personality.  She doesn't act her age; she is very active and loves going for walks.  She walks very well on a leash. She gets along well with my 2  dogs, although it took a while to warm up to them.  Now she runs and plays with them both.  She absolutely can't be in a home with cats though!"  Contact MHS 905-271-0883.
Bubba - I am a Chow Chow, male, about 10 yrs old. Here is a bio by my foster mom: "Bubba is a sweet old baby with character, or attitude? He is Mister Personality! He Bubba is wonderful with other dogs and cats. Although he has some hip problems, he loves his walks - he would walk forever! He does not walk fast or pull on his leash, and would be perfect for anyone of any age. When he comes in, he will sleep at your feet like a baby. He is housetrained, very clean. As he is an older fellow, he would benefit being in a quiet home (without children) of an experienced owner, preferably experienced Chow Chow owners. A nice retired person/couple would make his ultimate dream come true. He just wants to be loved and he desperately wants to love back his forever person. Like most Chow Chows, he can be a bit 'bossy', but once he realizes that you are in charge, he is fine." Rescued Dec 2007. Please contact foster parent A.J. 416-729-7570. ADOPTION FEE:$98.00

Treiver - I am a Yellow Labrador X, male, 6-7 ys old.  Heres a bio by my foster daddy:  "Treiver is a wonderfully young at heart, middle aged gentleman who would like nothing better to spend his time with an active gentleman or lady  who appreciates loyal and quiet companionship.   He knows his basic commands, and is comfortable around cats.   He should be the only male dog though.  This is a dog who loves to fetch and carry on land or in the water.  Outdoors he loves to be by your side, indoors he will follow you from room to room, but given a toy will happily spend time alone curled up somewhere comfortable.   Treiver can be dominant at times, and has some kind of food aggression, so he definitely needs  a home of an experienced owner with a firm hand with some dog training knowledge - no children please.  The new owner of Trevor should also be willing to continue his weekly training class provided free by MHS.   Contact  Hilary or John at 905-793-8852 or eMail  at networks@primus.ca with "TREIVER" starting the subject line.
Simon - I am a beagle, male, 8-9 years old, petite, and gentle boy. I am calm, and pretty laid back in the hous, but do enjoy going on walks with other dogs I get to know. I would love a family with with someone who is able to stay at home during the day, and one with older children as I crave companionship. I get along fine with cats, and dogs once I get to know them. I am in good shape physically, but seem to be going deaf, so an experienced and quiet home would best suit me. Rescued Aug, 2007. Contact MHS Tom 905 848-0012.
Taco- I am a Spaniel X, male, about 12 yrs old. Dont pass me by because I am an older boy. I am still in a very good shape (I dont even appear to have arithritus! and have lots to give. In fact,my foster mom cannot think of any 'negative' things about me! I am a very friendly, gentle and affectionate dog. My tail is always wagging. I am quiet, yet would bark when someone is at the door! . I am livng with another dog and a few cats. I would be a great companion to a senior person/couple - lets retire our goldens years gracefully together! Rescued June 2007. Contact Sandy 416-654-8185
Trella - (aka Scamp) - I am a Labrador/Hound X, female, 2-3 yrs old. I got my name (Star in Spanish) as I have a beautiful white star on my chest. I am very energetic and playful, and get excitable easily. I am a good girl, but I have a mind of my own and would need a firm and experienced owner that can keep me in control and exercised! With obedience training, I am on my way to being a good dog! I get along with most dogs and love to go on walks. Rescued May 2007. Contact John 905-793-8852.
